after four years, this refrigerator completely stopped cooling and freezing. i called out a repairman and he said samsung refrigerators make up the bulk of the repairs that he does. his advice was buy any brand except samsung! ultimately, he diagnosed that it was low on freon, so he put more in. but there is a leak that is not possible to detect, so it'll be a recurring problem and soon i'll have to buy a new refrigerator. the repairman said it is because they workmanship if terrible. in addition, two shelves broke within the first year. samsung should be ashamed. i wouldn't want a product this bad to have my name on it.

what a pitiful example of south korean engineering. if you value the content of a refrigerator, your time or your sanity do not buy this product. total shutdown of unit just over two years in service. called authorized repair facility and were out to premises one week later. diagnosis was inverter board. one week later inverter board is installed. well that was not the problem, it's the compressor. over two weeks later compressor is installed, tech noted contamination in line, but samsung says to replace compressor anyway. it's running now for about an hour but we've lost total confidence in the unit. we've been without a refrigerator for 5 weeks. also, the shelves snap at the corners. please do not buy this unit its a total failure.

From the first day this refridgerator has not worked correctly. The refrigerator side only cools to 41 degrees. In order to keep things cool enough we freeze bottled water in the freezer then transfer them to the refrigerator side. We have had service out twice and have had no resolution. They were to return and have been a no show now for three weeks. I'm not sure what is worse the refrigerator or the service.

was disappointed to find that there are no adjustable shelves in the refrigerated compartment of this model. the one adjustable shelf is in the freezer section. the door compartments in the refrigerator aren't even adjustable. not sure i would recommend this refrigerator. description "easily adjustable shelf to fit taller items"...why would samsung think to add adjustable shelf to freezer and not to refrigerated compartment????
also, i didn't realize when it said counterdepth that it still extends out approx 4" from the counter (depth of the doors)...not true counter depth.

this refrigerator is a lemon. lasted 5 years 6 months approximately six months later than an extended warranty. so purchase protection and that purchased protection runs out then the product suddenly dies. so samsung is helpful to send us to service quick csp
+1(877) 412-1665 warranty authorized repair provided whom promptly told us it's $300 to enter our premises and then diagnosis would be extra. then they changed our repair service date three different times without inquiry of impact, so we cancelled the service appointment purchased an lg refrigerator and we've elimanated samsung from our appliance family products. what a joke.

this is a terrible, terrible refrigerator. i've had many refrigerators over the years and this is the absolute worst, and actually the worst appliance i have ever had. the drawers consistently fill up with water so i cannot store anything in them. the freezer ices up underneath so that the pull out drawers get jammed. i spent hours yesterday, again just scraping and chopping ice off the bottom of the freezer. when i contacted the company shortly after the warranty expired, i got no help at all except that i could buy a part that would be nearly $300, and either try to install it myself or hire someone to install it. it is a known issue.

This refrigerator has started breaking (shelves) after only 2.5 years. Samsung says there are not reports of this being a design or materials problem. However, multiple reviews on the Lowes website specifically identify plastic around the shelves breaking within the first 3 years. I will not buy another Samsung product.

I bought this unit in July 2017. End of Feb 2019 and the compressor died. Nearly $1000 worth of food had to be thrown out. I am shocked that this happened to a higher end ($1800) appliance.

Samsung doesn't stand by their products. This refrigerator broke down after less than a year after purchase. It was a nightmare trying to get it repaired. Just two months later, it's broken again. And again it's been like trying to lift heaven and earth to get it repaired.

I don't normally write reviews but I had to look online for the filter reference and got curious what others had to say about it in their reviews. After reading some pretty negative reviews, I figured I owed it to others to share my positive experience. I purchased this refrigerator in November of 2012 and it ran smooth, quiet and consistent all the way until 3' of flood waters got it in August 2017. It actually still worked after it dried out! However, I didn't care to attempt to clean it up to reuse it so I bid it farewell and put it in my yard next to a large debris pile of my other water-logged possessions. The next day, someone less fortunate than I took interest in it and picked it up to take home, clean up and reuse.
The fridge itself was very quiet, very consistent temperature and gave us absolutely zero problems for almost 5 years. I have no reason to believe it wouldn't have gone another 5 years if it wasn't flooded. The only thing I can find to nit pick at it for is that the stainless steel surface was a bit of a hassle to keep clean from all the little fingers touching it - but this is the case with any and all real stainless steel appliances. I had decent success using a commercial-grade cleaner and polisher which essentially put a thin oily film on the surface. This simply made it easier to wipe up the next time and gave the steel a clean and even look.
I'd purchase the exact same fridge again if I didn't redesign the kitchen so we could utilize a full depth fridge instead of counter-depth to get a bit more room.

We recently moved, leaving behind our five year old Samsung appliances. Shortly after getting into our next house, we decided to buy all new Samsung appliances and sell the old ones. We love the refrigerator, we did not want one with French doors and a bottom freezer. Our only complaint about our previous refrigerator was that the ice maker would freeze up near the dispenser when we would go away for a month or two. We are pleased to see that this one has a totally redesigned ice maker that is much easier to take out and to put back. We expect that the freezing problem has been resolved.

This is the nicest product we could find (counter depth) in our local market area for the $..
We had this same model for 6.5 years and enjoyed it. It should have lasted longer in a 2 person household, but it didn't. (One service call convinced us to give up & get a new one.) We bought the 5 year warranty again. We're laying aside our $ to buy another one in 5+ years. That seems to be the life-expectancy of this model.

We love the counter-depth feature of this product. We were so dissatisfied with our previous counter-depth refrigerator, after 3 months we returned it and bought this one right off the sales floor. Just got our new fridge. It seems better designed than my last one where the shelves on the door were poorly designed and constantly needing parts which are not available these days of planned obsolescence for as long as they were earlier. LED lights good idea. Also display useful. Thank you for the "please shut the door" bell. Good efficienct rating.

Looked for a high performing side-by-side refrigerator, that was also counter-depth. Few to choose from - most manufacturers are following the "french-door" trend, so I was happy to find this model at an affordable price point.
This model features GREAT interior lighting - such an improvement over my previous fridge! Drawers are plentiful and seem sturdy enough at this point in time....
Energy consumption appears to be in line with similar models.
The unit cooled down to operating temperature, on first plug-in, much faster than expected (about 45 minutes!).
Very quiet so far - only noise is when the ice maker fills with water. Ice maker is reliable so far, but as with all these units, they seem to jam or stop making ice reliably after a couple of years - I'm OK with that, they live a hard life and I've replaced a few in my time.
Overall - a great buy. Recommended.

The counter-depth fridge fit perfectly in the space, is roomy and impressive looking. So far, I have not been able to install a water line (no thanks to Best Buy), so I can't speak on the noise related to the ice machine or filtered water feature, but everything else is great so far. I've had it a little over 2 months.

We have been using this refrigerator for a month. It was purchased to replace a relatively new Frigidaire counter depth side by side of the same cubit feet. This is definitely a better designed refrigerator. The spacing of the shelves is more efficient and the ice/water dispenser is less complicated. We were surprised how much better we liked this one over the Frigidaire. The only caveat is that the drawers don't pull completely out but we have adjusted.

After installation, I found the frig worked as the manual specified. Am still learning how to operate and use the frig. So far so good. Easy to use and do set up. It gets 5 stars. The manual is hard to read because the font is in grey color and too small. Help! I had to use a magnifier to read the instructions. Some one in marketing should get fired for allowing a manual like this one. Even the grey in this site is hard to read. Everyone thinks that grey is "cool". Well, it's not--

So far, this has been a very good fridge. It is counter depth so it doesn't hold as much as a regular fridge would. It has run very well and seems to keep a constant temp on both the freezer and fridge sides. The only issue I have with it is the auto ice dispenser is a little anemic, ice comes out slow.

Product switched into demo mode 13 months in while we were on vacation and came home to a mess. 3 months later the product lost all cooling. Product was determined to be unrepairable: and had to be replaced at 16 months.

Loved my new refrigerator at first. Design was great, storage was terrific for counter depth. Ice maker could be a little noisy but that wasn't too bad. About 11 months after delivery it started making awful purring noises - entire fan will now have to be replaced. I bought a Samsung because they had been so highly recommended as reliable, so I am very disappointed at this turn of events.
